I combine evidence-based, current clinical care with my sixteen years of experience supporting families through the birth and postpartum process.

As many do who are drawn to birth, I began as a volunteer doula in my early twenties, knowing I was drawn to birth, but wanting a low stakes way to check it out - could I handle being in the room with whole big messy process? I never looked back.

After years of midwifery apprenticeship and seven years of practicing as a midwife and working as a lactation consultant, I took time off to attend a Master’s program in creative writing (poetry) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Now I’m back in the East Bay, still writing poetry, and returned to the birth work I love. I decided to leave behind the high-stress, on-call world of out-of-hospital midwifery.

Instead, I have always most enjoyed the postpartum time, being with families as they grow and celebrate their new little human. It is my honor and privilege to assist in this transition.

A researcher at heart, I love to learn what’s new in breastfeeding medicine and adapt my practice to the growing body of science about lactation.

I am an active member of the National Nurse’s Union campaign for CalCare (universal healthcare in California).

I also love photography and all the photographs on this site were taken be me - except the ones of me!
